Once I made the decision to start a U-Pick farm, I began looking for suppliers to purchase the equipment I needed to get started. I found one particular supplier here in Virginia that offers many of the irrigation supplies I needed to do a test bed of strawberries so, I decided to drive to their location. It’s only an hour and a half drive and I wanted to get started ASAP.
I jump in my car – a 2007 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited Edition. It’s a great car. Comfortable. Quiet. I like a quiet car. In fact, I think this car is dangerous because it is almost to comfortable. I find that not only my passengers, but I too, fall asleep while in this car.
Anyway, I get to my destination and purchase what I went for – a drip irrigation kit and an in-line fertilizer injector. I look around at some of the equipment they have on their lot and then jump back in the car for the ride back home. Shortly after I get back on the road I noticed the car was sluggish. Almost like it didn’t have much power. By this time, I’d gotten concerned so I pulled into a McDonald’s parking lot. Of course, I had to go thru the drive-thru and get something to eat and that’s when things went down hill.
The car started jerking and making a bunch of clanking noises from the engine bay and then the motor just cut off. I tried to crank it several times, but quickly realized there was no use. Me and my passenger got out and pushed the car out of the drive-thru line into a parking space that was downhill from the line of cars that was now behind us.
